las cartas posibles / possible letters (2021)
Possible Letters is an approach to my own family archive of correspondence between my father and his family during the nearly six years (1976-1981) in which he was imprisoned during the last Argentine military dictatorship. From the prisons of Devoto, La Plata and Rawson (Chubut) my father sent and received numerous letters, of which more than two hundred remain. In order to be able to think about how to work with them, I decided to organize the material by summing up the content. That list which started as a sketch of the future project, finally became the work itself. A careful map that tries to organize data, procedures, sensations and all the missing moments within the life of a young man. If a family is a constellation, this work aims to be, then, one of the many possible photos facing that immensity.
Possible letters was part of the exhibition “In full light of day – Crossroads of presents at the Haroldo Conti Cultural Center of Memory” during 2021. This exhibition was the culmination of an art clinic and scholarship thanks to FNA – CONTI Training Program and Production in Arts, Human Rights and Memories by tutors and artists Karina Granieri and Julia Masvernat.

Las cartas posibles es un acercamiento al archivo familiar de correspondencia entre mi papá y su familia durante los casi seis años (1976-1981) en los que él estuvo preso durante la última dictadura militar argentina. Desde las cárceles de Devoto, La Plata y Rawson (Chubut) mi papá envió y recibió numerosas cartas, de las cuales se conservan más de doscientas. Para poder pensar una obra con ellas me propuse organizar y relevar el material (cartas y algunas pocas fotografías). Ese listado se convirtió, finalmente, en la obra. Un mapa cuidadoso que intenta ordenar datos, trámites, sensaciones y faltas. Si una familia es una constelación esta obra pretende ser, entonces, una de las tantas fotos posibles ante esa inmensidad.
Las cartas posibles formó parte de la exhibición A plena luz del día – Encrucijada de presentes en el Centro Cultural de la Memoria Harold Conti durante el 2021. Esta muestra fue el proceso de trabajo de la clínica de arte y beca FNA – CONTI Programa de Capacitación y Producción en Artes, Derechos Humanos y Memorias a cargo de Karina Granieri y Julia Masvernat.
